Robert Mayer died on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. Private Family Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 @ Visitation Catholic Church. Burial will be at Visitation Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Robert was born to Art and Frances (Meyer) Mayer in Mitchell County. He attended Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville up to 8th grade. He then started farming until he married the love of his life Poochie Huemann on April 26, 1951 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Bob and Poochie then moved to Waterloo, where Bob worked at the John Deere Plant. Five years later Bob started in the milk hauling business. He continued to haul milk until retirement. Bob was an active member of the Stacyville Volunteer Fire Department for 59 years. He was also a member of the Knight of Columbus. His interests were fishing, bowling, and gambling. Survived by his children, Steve Mayer of Osage, Sue (John) Novack of Maple Grove, Bruce (Denise) Mayer of Stacyville, Jane Mayer of Roseville, MN; grandchildren, Bryce (Sally) Mayer and their children, Lane, Lily, and Liam, Katie (Bob) Jeske and their children, Toby, Luke, and Noah, Adam (Kjersti) Mayer and their children, Kellan and Kendall, Laura Novack, Ryan Novack, and sister-in-law Ruth Mayer. He was Proceeded in Death by his parents, wife, Darlene "Poochie"; infant daughter, Mary; brothers, sisters, and in-laws.
