March 10, 1961 - April 27, 2024
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our dearly loved Kim “Matous” Crosser, 63, of Osage, IA. Kim departed this world on April 27th, 2024, her beloved husband Samuel Crosser was by her side. We were blessed by her entrance to this world on March 10th, 1961 to Joseph “Buzzy” and JoAnn Matous in Waterloo, IA. Raised alongside her sister, Shelly and brothers Mike and Matt, she knew she was loved by her family from the moment she opened her eyes in this world. Her childhood was one from a storybook where she would ride her horse to elementary school and come home to play with her beloved siblings. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1979 where she was taught many life lessons. Kim was a natural caregiver to many throughout her impactful life. Kim loved to make others around her feel great which is why she began her career in cosmetology. She opened her salon, “Stylin”, working hours that still allowed her to care for her two girls. Kim’s empathetic heart continued to serve in other ways such as working at Orange Elementary School, Blood Centers of Iowa and finally retiring from Exceptional Persons Inc. in 2022. Kim’s life was anchored in her family. She shared a deep and abiding love with her husband Sam. She especially loved listening to him play his piano for hours on end. Kim had many accomplishments in her life but her two greatest were her daughters, Lindsey Given Egli (Alan) of Lowden, IA and Megan Young (Andy) of Cedar Falls, IA. Kim poured every ounce of herself into her two girls and let them know often how proud she was of them. Kim also had three step children, Jordan Crosser (Megan), Samantha Crosser and Melanie Best. In her later years, Kim relished her role as Nana, showering love and attention to her six grandchildren, Chase, Coco, Freya, Kaylee, Billi Jo and Ellie. A passionate gardener, an avid cook, and lover of being surrounded by her family Kim found solace and joy in the rhythms of everyday life. She loved to go camping, fishing in Northern Minnesota, cracking jokes, crafting, seeing the best in others and watching decades of The Young and the Restless. Kim was escorted by her guardian angels to her eternal home to be with family members that she has missed for many years including her first husband, Bill Given, her mother and father, sister, brothers and all her animals, especially her beloved white lab “Snowball” whom she called her soul animal. Kim’s teachings continue to guide us, her memories continue to inspire us and her legacy will forever by imprinted on the hearts and minds of those she touched. Her unending faith in God, her non-judgmental kindness, unwavering love for her family, and the will to fight and work harder than ever will always be remembered and cherished. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th at 3:00 at First United Methodist Church, 527 Main St. Osage, IA 50461. The memorial service will be live streamed on the First United Methodist Church Youtube channel. Memorials may be directed to the family and mailed to, 4354 Ranchero Rd, Cedar Falls, IA 50613.
