Robert (Bob) Dennis Grundel, 42 of St. Ansgar, Iowa passed away suddenly on June 30, 2021 after a tractor accident. His family is shocked and deeply saddened by his loss. Bob was born on April 16, 1979 to Dennis and Marjorie(Rachut) Grundel in Osage, Iowa. After graduating from St. Ansgar High School in 1997, Bob attended college majoring in Agronomy. He graduated with honors and earned his Bachelors Degree from Iowa State University in 2001. Bob married in 2013 and from this union welcomed two sons Logan (9) and Mitchell (7). He loved these boys with all of his heart. Anyone that met Bob, knew that he was a special soul. His smile was like no other and his goofiness was infectious. He so enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and co-workers and cherished each and every one of those relationships. Bob enjoyed doing most anything that involved time outdoors. He was an avid hunter, especially turkey hunting, and had no issue waking up at 4:30am to sit in his turkey blind calling in birds. He loved animals which was witnessed by the lab that he always had by his side and the many cats that he took in. Bob held various agronomy positions throughout his career, but his true passion was farming. Farming was in his blood as he could be found riding in the combine or tractor at a very young age with Dad, Uncle Jer or Grandpa George. He kept the family tradition alive by passing on this love to his sons. Logan and Mitchell spent many hours farming with their Dad and enjoyed all that farm life had to offer. Bob is remembered and loved so much by his parents, Dennis and Marjorie (Rachut) Grundel of Northwood, Iowa; sons, Logan and Mitchell Grundel of Austin, MN; love of his life, Stacy Wilhelm of Lansboro, MN and her children Hailey (13) and Gavin (9); sister, Deb (Tom) Blaeser of Buffalo, MN and their children, Madisyn, Brittney, Aiden, Ellie, Will and Zach; grandfather, George Grundel of Northwood, IA; uncles and aunts, Jerry and Sue Grundel of Northwood, IA, Dennis and Joyce Rachut of Osage IA and Ronald Rachut of Fertile, IA, cousins, The Weness Family and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by grandparents Wilmer and Elsie Rachut and Doris Grundel along with twin nephews, Alex and Ryan Baardseth. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Osage with Rev. David Werges officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be July 5 at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood from 4-7 p.m. Casual dressed is preferred at the Visitation.
