Bernice Jeanne Paulson, age 98, of Osage, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Ansgar. Bernice Jeanne Paulson was born on February 5, 1926, on the family farm near New Haven to Ernest and Florence (Fox) Kleckner. She was 3 years old when they moved to a farm one mile east of St. Ansgar. She attended and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in1943.She attended Hamilton Business College and then worked at the REA in St. Ansgar. On December 26, 1948, Bernice was united in marriage to Gaylon Paulson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. They resided on the Paulson Farm west of Osage where Bernice was a homemaker, helping Gaylon on the farm and raising their 5 children, Vicki, Jeanne, Jim, Joe and Kristen. After the death of her husband Gaylon in 1990 she moved to Osage. She enjoyed walking around Osage with her neighbors, bus trips, playing cards, concerts and working in her garden. Bernice always looked forward to family gatherings. Let to cherish her memory are her children, Vicki Brubaker, Jeanne Place, Jim (Wendy) Paulson, Joe (Gwen) Paulson and Kristen (Bob) Bowles; grandchildren, Tony Midlang, Jason (Kelly) Brubaker, Kelli Paulson. Nickolas Paulson, Stephanie (Eric) Moore, Laura (Hayden) Murdock, Lesley (Brian) McKinley and Tommy (Keri) McKinley; 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Bill (Kristen) Kleckner and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylon; her parents, Ernest and Florence; sisters, Helen, Patrica and Mary; brothers, Adrian, Bob, Arnold, Maurice, Ray and Jim Kleckner. The Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Osage. Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
