Sally Adell Kratchmer, age 85, of Osage, died peacefully December 23, 2024, at Suite Living Senior Care in Maple Grove, MN with her loving family by her side. Sally was born on October 16, 1939, in Pine Island, MN. She graduated from Pine Island High School in Pine Island, MN. Sally was united in marriage with Vernon Kratchmer on June 11, 1960, in Dixon, IL, and they were married for 56 years until Vernon passed away in 2017. Sally was a loving, caring and kind wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She spent a great deal of time caring for her three children, house and large yard. She worked at the Sears catalog store for years. Sally was also active in community affairs, including serving on the Board for Habitat for Humanity; remaining very active at First United Methodist Church; volunteering at the local elections, blood drives and Osage Community schools; serving on various committees at Sunny Brae Golf and Country Club; and serving as a chaperone and volunteer for the Osage Precisionnaires Drum and Bugle Corps. Sally loved spending time with her family, playing cards, golfing, reading, gardening, watching Hallmark movies, watching Twins and Hawkeye games, a good steak and sharing a good laugh with friends and family. She was also on a short list for best and most loyal customers of Diet Coke and, therefore, will also be greatly missed by the Coca-Cola Company. She also loved receiving gifts more than anyone we know and was caught numerous times over the years opening her Christmas presents well before the family gathering to open such gifts. Sally is survived by a son, John (Terri) Kratchmer of Madison, WI; daughters Lori (Greg) Thorp of St. Louis Park, MN and Lisa (Mike) Eggert of Savage, MN; five grandchildren, Nicholas Kratchmer, Kali Ketterling, Jared (Abby) Thorp, Kyle Kratchmer and Sheridan Thorp; a brother, William Johnke; brother-in-law, Dean Kratchmer; and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her parents; an infant son; a brother, Gerry Johnke; sister-in-laws, Elaine Hirschler, Sharon Kratchmer, Loraine Johnke and Kerry Kratchmer; and brother-in-law, Perry Kratchmer. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Osage from 10-11:00. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 with Martha Chancellor presiding. The burial will be at the Osage Cemetery. The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage and Suite Living Senior Care for all their loving care during Sally’s time there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Osage, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice. Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.schroederfuneralhomes.com.
