Ruth M. Mayer, age 91, of Stacyville, died Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Iowa, with Father Gary Mayer and Father Raymond Burkle and Monsignor John Hemann officiating. Burial will be at Visitation Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the church with a 4:45 rosary. Ruth was born June 19, 1930, at Stacyville, Iowa, the daughter of Reinhart and Margaret (Hemann) Adams. She graduated from Visitation High School in Stacyville in 1949. On June 23, 1951, she married Urban Mayer at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Ruth was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Christian Women and Stacyville Women's Bowling League. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, gardening, cooking, baking, playing cards, puzzles, and following the Minnesota Twins. Ruth especially loved spending time with her family. Ruth is survived by her children, Kathy (Jim) Doudna of Dubuque, Rick (Chris) Mayer of Stacyville, Cindy (Glen) Hemann of Pine Island, Minnesota, and Betty (Alan) Hackenmiller of Stacyville; grandchildren, Kari (Joe) Splinter, Brian Doudna, Fr. Gary Mayer, Brad (Courtney) Mayer, Amy (Cole) Nielsen, Beth (Nate) Hall, Luke Hackenmiller, Kaylie Hackenmiller, and Kelsey Hackenmiller; great-grandchildren, Nick and Addie Splinter, Alexa, Levi and Danielle Mayer, Gavin and Madison Nielsen, and Carson and Aubrey Hall; brothers and sister, Dean (Veronica) Adams of Stacyville, Glen "Pickle" (Erma) Adams of Osage, and Beverly "Dudy" (Leslie) Weber of Stacyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Urban Mayer; and brothers, Donald Adams and Marvin Adams.
