Mary Lou Diederich, age 89, of Osage, died peacefully Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at her home in Osage surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2022 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Cindy S. Krause officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mary Lou was born November 16, 1932 on the family farm near Blairsburg, Iowa to Charles and Jessie (Rapp) Hilpipre. She graduated in 1950 from Blairsburg High School. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Vernon Diederich at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage on November10,1973. Mary Lou worked as a loan officer at First Citizens Bank in Osage. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and Osage VFW auxiliary. Mary Lou loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one held a special place in her heart. Vern and Mary Lou loved to travel, they traveled to Sedona, Arizona every winter. Mary Lou was kind, loving and perfect wife. Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Vernon of Osage; daughters, Twyla (Jim) Rodemaker of Osage; Angela (Curtis) Younker of Osage; sons, Alan (LeGene) Smith of Osage, Brad (Donna) Smith of Urbandale and daughter-in-law Julie Smith of Osage; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren: brother, Donald Hilpipre and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven: her brothers, Alvin, Wayne, Howard, Virgil, Charles Jr. and Bernard Hilpipre; her sisters, Vera Olson, Mildred King, Letty Reisetter and LaVonne Story.
