Joanne B. Benttine, 87, of Osage, died Tuesday, September 26,2023 at the Good Samaritan Home in St. Ansgar. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Champion Funeral Home in Osage with Sister Mille Leuenberger officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 28,2023 at Champion Funeral Home from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Osage Cemetery. Joanne was born on February 11, 1936, to Enoch and Lydia (Beyer) Hawkins in St. Ignus, Michigan. She graduated from Sault St. Marie, Michigan High School in 1954 Joanne met LeRoy “Doc” Benttine who was stationed at Sault St. Marie, Michigan while on a double date with her sister. Doc and Joanne married a few months later. They were married on January 2, 1954. The marriage lasted 66 years. From that union there were three children born, Connie Kay Benttine Wagner, Dennis Dean Benttine and Carl LeRoy Benttine. Joanne worked as a CNA for many different health facilities, she also worked as an aide for Home Health Care. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, going to the Casino, and playing Bingo. Joanne collected tea pots, bells, and baskets. She was a member of the Osage American Legion Auxiliary. She is preceded by her parents, husband, LeRoy “Doc” son, Dennis. Joanne is survived by her: daughter, Connie (Galen) Wagner and their children, Gabriella (Steve) Frost, Peter (Wendy) Wagner, Melinda (Andy) Beland, Tasha (Bobby) Deeds; Dennis’s widow Elizabeth Weaverling and their children, Rose Woolums, Heather Benttine; son, Carl (Stephanie) Benttine and their children, Allison (John) Weaver, Savannah (Jordan) Nelson, Zachary (Jess) Benttine; 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; sister, Nina Olson; many nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law, Janice Benttine, Marianne Benttine, Margaret Hawkins and Crystal Hawkins.
