Kathryn (Kathy) Louise Rosenberg, 87, formerly of St. Ansgar, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at her son Ronald's home in Broken Arrow, Ok. Per her wishes Kathryn has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar with Rev. Mark Squire officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery, rural Osage. Kathy was born on June 3, 1934 to Floyd and Gladys (Clemenson) Trettin in Grafton, Iowa. She was the oldest of three children. From birth to marriage, Kathy was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton having been baptized, confirmed, and married there. She was a 1952 graduate of Grafton High School. Following graduation she continued to work on the family farm east of Grafton until meeting the love of her life, Russell Rosenberg, at the Grafton Roller Rink. They were united in marriage on March 7, 1954 while Russ was serving in the US Army. They celebrated 61 wonderful years together until she lost her Russ to cancer in August of 2015. Russ and Kathy made their home on the Rosenberg family farm west of St. Ansgar for 20 years, moving into town in 1974. After their marriage Russ and Kathy joined St. John's Lutheran Church east of Grafton. They became the custodians of the church doing cleaning, mowing, and various odd jobs. As service to others was very important to them, they made sure to include their children in on these jobs to teach them about serving God and others. They were the parents of three children, Russell Jr., Ronald and Cheryl. Kathy spent her life taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren and anyone else she could help. In 1972 Russ and Kathy opened Russ' Standard in St. Ansgar, IA. Kathy helped Russ at the station when needed until the station closed in 1982. In 1979 Kathy went to work full time at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar as a CNA and continued until her retirement in 2009. Taking care of other people was a part of what defined Kathy and it always brought her great enjoyment to see someone else happy. Kathy was known for her beautiful voice, having sung in high school, at church, and for special occasions when asked. She was also known for her love of crocheting. She loved using her special talent to make gifts for other people and enjoyed seeing their reactions upon receiving her beautiful works of art. One of Russ and Kathy's favorite pastimes was traveling. They were always planning out their next adventure and were happy to take others along with them. One of their all time favorite vacations was when they went to Hawaii with their children. They lost count of the number of trips they made to Branson. Family was always of the utmost importance to her and she looked forward to attending the Clemenson Reunions or anytime she was able to travel to Des Moines to just spend time visiting with family. She also loved attending the musical and academic events her grandchildren participated in. Kathy is survived by her: three children and 17 grandchildren, Russell Jr. (Hope Rosenberg) and their family Tina (Craig) Yule, Tony (Jen) Rosenberg, Todd Rosenberg, Amy Rose, April (Patrick) Mastey, Virginia (Justin) Curry, Candice Rosenberg, and Isaac Rosenberg, Ronald (Carole) Rosenberg and their family Brandi (Kris) Paulson, Travis (Stacy) Patterson, Kiki (Armond) Silas, Brianna Burris, Cody Burris, Ginger Burris and Ambre (Marvell) Gillard, Cheryl (Scott) Gruis and their family Bryce (Michelle) Rosel and Spenser (Heidi) Gruis; sister, Karen Sharper; sister-in-law, Delores Trettin; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends. She was preceded in death by her: husband, Russell Rosenberg Sr.; parents; brother, Richard Trettin; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Kathryn always had a very strong faith and carried this with her throughout her life. She also was very much in the belief that angels lived among us and were always watching out for us. Kathryn in now a special angel for all of us.
