February 5, 1948 - March 29, 2022
Robert Michael Ingersoll, age 74, died Tuesday, March 29th at Manly Specialty Care in Manly, IA. Mike was a 1966 graduate of Northwood-Kensett Senior High School. He was married for 28 years to Kimberley (Harris) Stotts and together they had four amazing, flawless, brilliant-in-every-way children. He worked first for Flying Tiger air freight in Anchorage, Alaska, then for the San Diego Police Department as a dispatcher before moving back to Northwood where he spent many years serving as a dispatcher and jailor at Worth County Sheriff's Office. On June 6, 2009, Mike married Ann (Johnson) Ingersoll. Together they have enjoyed adopting and caring for multiple dogs, often ones with special needs. He was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan and he enjoyed cheering on the Northwood-Kensett Vikings. He loved his family and treasured the time he had with his wife, his kids and his grandkids. As a father he excelled where it mattered most–making sure his children knew that they were always loved, always supported, and always welcome. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert Blanchard Ingersoll & Ruth Ann Harris. He was also preceded in death by his glorious Bob Ross perm which was cut off never to return sometime in the early 2000’s. He is survived by his loving wife Ann, four children, two step-children, and many grandchildren: Adam (Betsy) Ingersoll and their children Quincy, Zane, Izaiah and Phoenix of Ankeny, IA. Caleb (Diane) Ingersoll and their children Jillian and Benjamin of Seabrook, NH. Leah (Brian) Phipps and their children Alice, Harrison, and William of Ellsworth, IA. Allen (Jillian) Freeman Ingersoll of Northwood, IA. Step-daughters Christina Middleton of Santa Barbara, California and Melissa (Clay) Coffman and their children Seth, Jake, Julia, Josie (Austin) and Emma of Saint James, Missouri. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 7, from 5-7 pm at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home (1211 10th St S, Northwood). A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8, at 10:30 am at Peace Lutheran Church (902 2nd Ave N, Northwood).
