Judy Maas, age 77, of Osage, died peacefully Wednesday morning, September 27, 2023, at Manly Care Center in Manly, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2023, at Eden Presbyterian Church, 3105 Glass Avenue, Rudd, Iowa 50461, with Rev. Dixie Laube officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. A visitation gathering with friends and family will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Champion Funeral in Osage. Judy was born in Charles City, Iowa on September 26, 1946, the daughter of George and Joan (Bascombe) Brandau. She attended and graduated from Osage High School and then attended UNI and received her Bachelor Degree in Education. Judy and Lyle Peter Maas were married on February 1, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kileen, Texas. From this union three daughters were born, Nancy, Kristine, and Valerie. They later divorced. Judy worked numerous jobs while raising her three daughters living in Cedar Falls, she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Judy enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, singing in choirs, and talking about her grandson. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Valerie Maas: infant granddaughter, Anna Marie Stanton; brother, Bruce; 2 sisters-in-law and 3 nephews. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Larry) Solberg of Mason City, Iowa, and Kristine (Chris) Tate of Orlando, Florida; grandson, Michael Solberg-Maas; brothers, Steve (Lindsey) Brandau of Warren Robbins, Georgia, Russell Brandau of Osage, Craig (Colette) Brandau of Mason City, Ken (Linda) Brandau of Rudd, Al (Jacque) Brandau of Floyd and David (Larry Keifenheim) Brandau of Sun City, Arizona: sister-in-law, Susie Brandau of Osage and many nieces and nephews.
