May 19, 1927 - March 4, 2024
Janice (Jan) Marie Holahan, formerly of Mason City, IA, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 at The Faith Lutheran Nursing Home In Osage, IA. She was 96 years old. Jan was born on May 19, 1927 in Sioux City, IA to Peder and Anna (Linsley) Bryne. She was an only child but always enjoyed spending time with her cousins. She graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1945. Soon after WWII ended, she met the love of her life, James Holahan. The couple married on April 5, 1947 in Sioux City, IA. Shortly after, they moved to Iowa City where Jim attended the University of Iowa. Following Jim's graduation, they made their home in Sioux City, IA. Jim and Jan had 3 sons, Christopher, Michael, and Patrick. They were married for 73 years before Jim passed away in 2020. For 20 years, Jan was an office manager for a urology clinic in Sioux City, IA where she did a wonderful job of keeping everyone in line and the bookwork was impeccable! Anyone who knows her knows how she loved to organize. One of her most proud titles was as an officer in the American Business Women's Association. Jan was also an active member of the Epiphany Parish Guild in Mason City. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, keeping up to date on all her grandchildren's activities, and emailing family members. Jan was most known for her wonderful belly laugh that could make the whole room smile. Listening to her tell stories of raising three rambunctious boys was always very entertaining. She was the light of everyone's lives who had the joy of knowing her. Spending time with family always "tickled her pink" as she would say. Jan is survived by her three sons Christopher Holahan of Sarasota, FL, Michael (Shana) Holahan of Sarasota, FL, and Patrick Holahan of Mason City, IA. Seven grandchildren: Brad (Candy) Holahan of Sarasota, FL, Jamie Holahan of Costa Mesa, CA, Steve Holahan of Sarasota, FL, Angie (Tom) Vaughan of Sarasota, FL, Melinda Brazell (Dan) of San Antonio, TX, Chris (Brooke) of Cedar Falls, IA, and Kelli (Marlin) Duren of Osage, IA, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim in 2020, daughters-in-law Diana Holahan and Jodee Holahan and granddaughter Katie Holahan. A celebration of life will be held in Mason City, IA at a later date. Schroeder Funeral Homes, Osage, 641-732-3706
