Kathryn Kay Mallow

Kathryn Kay Mallow

November 10, 1946 - March 25, 2021

Kathryn Kay Mallow, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021 with her family by her side. Just 4 months after the loss of her Husband Charles Mallow. Kathy was born on November 10, 1946 to Herbert and Beulah (Smith) Cockrum in Osage, Iowa. She graduated from Osage High school in 1964. She then went to beauty school, but decided to change careers and work for the telephone company. She married the love of her life Chuck Mallow February 27th, 1982. Chuck, and Kathy made many moves, but ended up back in their hometown Osage, IA where they were surrounded by many fabulous friends. Kathy loved spending time with family, and friends. She would do anything and everything to make the people around her happy, and truly found joy in it. A smile, and a hug from Kathy could make anyone'S troubles go away. She liked to play cards, to cook, indulge in sweet treats, go shopping (or as she would say "shop 'til we drop"), and do crossword puzzles every morning with her loving husband before he passed. She loved watching the Twins, Hawkeyes, Packers, and the Saints. She was able to make her Grandson Levi's state hockey tournament in the beginning of March and you could see, and hear the joy in her voice and she screamed "Go Levi!" She was all of her grandchildren's biggest fan. Kathy battled metastatic breast cancer for the last 9 years, although most may not have known. She never wanted to worry anyone, and never once complained. Although her family is deeply saddened with her loss, they are happy that she is in peace, and whole again. Kathryn is survived by her children, Adele (Matthew) Mallow-Spears, Christopher Mallow, Kristen (Ryan) O'Boyle; her grandchildren, Sheri, Tayla, Rhiannon, Quinten, Rylie, Makynzie, Evan, and Levi; her siblings, Terry (Shirley) Cockrum, and Mona (Wayne) King; nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; sisters-in-law Claudia, and Connie; and her daughter-in-law, Becky. A Celebration of Kathy's life will be held in the near future. Please check back here for full details when available.
