Cheryl M. Derr, 56, of Osage, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Per her wishes cremation has taken place. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Cheryl was born on April 15, 1965 to Joseph and Annamae (Cornilsen) Michels in Oelwein, Iowa. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1983. She married Bernard Suhr and they raised two sons, Bernie and Raymond. They later divorced. On September 14, 2002 she was united in marriage to Duane Derr in Osage. Cheryl was employed at Faith Lutheran Home for eight years. She was diagnosed with Bladder cancer in May 2021. She was unable to work due to her Illness. Cheryl loved everyone she worked with and thought most were family. She was also employed at Comp Systems in Osage for a short time. Cheryl enjoyed collecting bears and music boxes and most of all spending time with her family. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Avery, Felix, Destini and Aleana and great granddaughter, Journey. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Michels; her sister, Teresa Miller and great grandson, Jameson Stadler. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Duane of Osage; her sons, Bernie (April) Suhr of St. Ansgar and Raymond Suhr of Osage; mother, Annamae Michels of Oelwein; niece, Annamae Miller of Oelwein; grandchildren, Destini, Aleana, Avery and Felix; and great granddaughter, Journey. The family would like to thank the staff at Faith Lutheran Home and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care that she received while there. Family requests that anyone who has a #Team Cheryl shirt to wear it at her Graveside service, or pink or purple as those were her favorite colors. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations payable to: Cheryl Derr Memorial. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to Home Trust and Savings Bank 628 Mian St. Osage, IA 50461.
