October 5, 1990 - November 23, 2024
Samantha M. Petznick, age 34, of Carpenter, Iowa, passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism at her home on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Samantha was born on October 5, 1990, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Randy and Kasey (Anderson) Petznick. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, IA. Her Godparents were Brian Petznick and Michelle Hill. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School. Samantha received her Associate in Environmental Science & Biology from Eastern Gateway Community College in Steubenville, OH. Sam was currently working towards her Bachelors in Environmental Science with a concentration in Natural Resources and Conservation. Sam was also a member of the Pony Express Riders of Iowa. Survivors left to cherish Samantha’s memory include her parents, Randy and Kasey Petznick; brother, James Petznick; grandmother, Dianne Petznick; and uncle, Brian Petznick, all of Carpenter, IA. She is also survived by grandmother, Marilyn Bublitz; uncles, Keith Anderson, Jeff Bublitz and family, Fred Bublitz; her true love and soulmate, Herb Dowse; numerous family members and friends; and her beloved animals. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Glen Petznick and Dean Bublitz; uncle, Leo Bublitz; numerous family members; her German Shepherds, Isabel and Ruger; and her horse, Ellie girl. Sam was very passionate in all aspects of her life. Since she was able to walk and talk Sam had a very strong connection with nature and animals. Growing up Sam was not your ‘typical girl” playing with dolls or dressing up, rather she loved to be outside exploring the beauties of nature and spending time with animals. She was a true “country girl.” Anyone who knew Sam knew her view of the world was from sitting in a saddle atop of a horse, through the lens of a camera, or simply walking around enjoying God’s beautiful creations. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. Her artistic abilities were evident through her photography. Sam spent hours outdoors capturing the perfect pictures of flowers, birds, fish, animals, sunsets, the northern lights and anything else that caught her eye. Sam loved going “up north” for family vacations. She loved spending time with family and friends fishing, exploring the outdoors and capturing the beautiful sunsets. Sam never met a stranger; she could talk to anyone about anything and everything. Her compassion for animals and people was always evident as she would do absolutely anything to help anyone and all animals. Sam was a very courageous, strong, independent, sassy, loving, and passionate soul. She will be dearly missed by all. Her spirit is forever free as she sits atop her saddle exploring and viewing the world from heaven above. Ride Free Sammy girl… Ride Free.
