Jerry Allen Grundel, 68, of Northwood, died Friday, November 26, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at First Lutheran Church, Northwood with Rev. Becky Sogge officiating. Visitation will be November 30 at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Sunset Rest Cemetery. Jerry A. Grundel was born June 20, 1953 the second of two sons to George and Doris (Chapin) Grundel in Mason City, Iowa. Jerry attended St. Ansgar schools, graduating in 1971. He loved FFA and football, as well as choir. Jerry had a beautiful voice and sang in multiple choirs over the years. Slow pitch softball and trucking, along with farming dominated his single early years. Jerry and friends, Steve Arnold and Neil Kruger, started their own drywall business, J S & N Drywall. In 2008 Jerry was set up on a blind date that would change his life. He met the love of his life, Susan Tanner. He found a partner who shared his love of the land, motorcycles and spending time with cherished friends. They were married in 2009 and settled in Northwood. Jerry had a sweet and gentle nature and the patience of a saint. He laughed often, loved deeply, and was a rock for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by many. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Susan, father George, and brother Dennis (Marjorie). Also surviving him are his niece Deborah Blaeser (Tom) and their children, Maddie, Brittany, Aiden, Ellie, Zach, and Will, and great nephews Logan and Mitchell Grundel. In addition, Jerry is survived by in-laws Jim Tanner and Arlene Rosdahl, and Sandy and Marty Aves along with their children and grandchildren. Proceeding Jerry in death was a beloved nephew Robert (Bob) Grundel in July 2021 and his mother Doris Grundel. The family wishes to thank Northwood Volunteer Fire Company and the Worth County Sheriff's department for their prompt and professional assistance. Please wear casual clothing, Harley Davidson, or John Deere attire for the funeral. Masks optional.
