Harold Robert Feldt went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society, St. Ansgar, IA. Harold was born March 14, 1925 to Robert and Laura (Schroeder) Feldt on the family farm 2 miles south of Carpenter. He was baptized, confirmed and attended Immanual Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. He attended and graduated from Carpenter Consolidated School in 1944. He served in the Army Air Corps in 1945 as an airplane engine mechanic. Upon discharge, Harold came home to farm with his parents. He used the GI Bill to attend the government sponsored school held at the Old Seminary in Osage with several of the other young men of the county. He married Ann Gunsallus on December 5, 1953. They farmed the family farm after his parents moved to St. Ansgar, milking cows, raising chickens, and hogs. To this union 4 daughters were born: Rebecca, Cynthia, Deborah, and Elisa. Harold sold the family farm to a young beginning farmer, and retired to a home in St. Ansgar while continuing to manage his mother’s home farm just north of St. Ansgar till his death. Harold and Ann made many trips around the U.S. over the years. He was a member of the American Legion and was an Honor Flight participant. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Ann in 2016, his parents, and younger brother Robert Jr. Feldt. He is survived by his daughters: Rebecca (Duane) Fisher, Cynthia (Larry) Kofoot, Deborah (Joe) Rogers, Elisa (Don) Tennyson; 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 1:00 to 2:00 on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Immanual Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Funeral service will immediately follow with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #358. Burial will be at Newburg Township Cemetery, Carpenter, IA, one mile north of the original family farm.
