Gladys Marie Larson, age 96, of Osage died, Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Nursing Home in Osage. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Pastor Bryan Odeen officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Gladys was born April 6, 1926, in Carroll County, Illinois, the daughter of George and Henrietta (Buikema) Dykstra. Gladys attended and graduated from Thomson High School in Thomson Illinois. She then attended AIB in Davenport, IA. Gladys was united in marriage to Kenneth Larson on April 6, 1950, at her sister’s home in Morrison, Illinois. She worked at Pillsbury Mills in Clinton, Iowa during WWII and then Farmer’s Mutual Insurance in Osage. Gladys was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the Elizabeth circle, Faith Home Board member, volunteer at Faith Home for 25 years, Food Bank volunteer and a 4-H Club leader and a Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gladys is survived by her children, James (Kim) Larson of Osage, John Larson of Estherville, Sharon (Bruce) Maples of Dallas, Texas and daughter-in-law, Jule Larson of River Hills, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Venhuisen of Denver, Colorado. She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Larson; son, Paul Larson; daughter-in-law, Jeannene Larson and sister, Eloise Voss. What a wonderful mother, and mother-in-law. She was always so welcoming to Ted and I. She made us feel like we were her kids as well. Such a kind heart. I never heard her complain. We pray for all of the family during this time and wish we could be there with you celebrating her life. Love Ted and Kim and kids
