Michael Dean Hedrick was born May 21, 1961, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Paul and Shirley (Rood) Hedrick. Michael graduated from Mason City High School in 1981 and then attended NIACC and received an Associates of Arts Degree. Michael was employed at the Globe Gazette, Alexander Manufacturing, Graham Manufacturing and A to Z Drying. On April 9, 2000, he married Mary Ann Denekas and they made their home in Osage. They enjoyed walking trails, traveling to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and many places in the United States with Disney World being a favorite place. Scrabble games were a Sunday afternoon tradition. TV trivia was a passion, he cataloged lots of facts in an old library card catalog. Michael is survived by Mary Ann Marreel; his mother, Shirley Hedrick; Aunt Lavina and Anthony Brass, Aunt Janet and Chuck Cooper, Aunt Eleanor and Ralph McEachran and Aunt Lorretta and Duane Bennett. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Hedrick and his grandparents. Champion Funeral Home, Osage, 641-732-3706,

My deepest sympathies to the family and Mary Ann on your loss. Michael was a gentle soul and even though life dealt him a huge blow he made the best of it and packed a lot of life and seeing the world in while he could. May he rest in peace, and may good memories of him and God's grace and love comfort those who will miss him the most.
