Harvey John Reutzel, age 92, of Northwood, IA passed away peacefully on 2/11/2023 at Meadow View Memory Care Village in Cedar Rapids, IA. Harvey was born on January 9,1931 on a farm in Ledyard, IA to parents, Henry and Anna (Matheis) Reutzel. He was the second child of 7 children. Harvey attended Seneca Consolidated Schools and graduated in 1948. Harvey worked at Fareway Grocery store in Estherville, Iowa until he enlisted in the Army in 1952. He served with the Sixth Armored Division stationed out of Fort Leonard Wood, MO from 1952-1954. After he was honorably discharged, he worked at Red Owl Grocery in Fairmont, Mn. Harvey was united in marriage to Marjorie (Warmka) Reutzel on September 4, 1958 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, Mn. They made their home in Fairmont, MN and then Northwood, IA. Harvey and his brother Richard owned Harv and Dick’s Food Pride in Northwood, IA for many years. He then worked for Deli-Express until retirement in 1995. Harvey loved baseball and was a lifelong Minnesota Twins fan. At one time he owned a Cessna 172 airplane with friends and loved to fly. Harvey played the trumpet in the family band growing up. And if you ask Margie he was the best. He and Margie vacationed many summers at Adrian’s Resort at Lake of the Woods, MN. In retirement Harvey and Margie owned a cabin at Lake of the Woods, MN where they spent their summers fishing and enjoying time with family and friends. They spent their winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Harvey delivered motorhomes for Bennett Driveaway and traveled all over the United States. He especially enjoyed his 16 trips to Alaska. Harvey is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie; his sons, Randal (JoAnn) Reutzel of Rogue River, OR, Larry (Becky) Reutzel of Swisher, IA and daughter, Rhonda Jacobson of Ogden, IA; grandchildren, Courtney Reutzel, Brittany Reutzel, Hunter Reutzel, Adam (Meghan) Reutzel, Benjamin (Alejandra) Reutzel, Austin (Abby) Reutzel, Andrea Reutzel, Heather (Jacob) Davis, Forrest (Trisha) Hasty, Mason (Bethany) Hasty and great grandchildren, Noah, Emarose, Hazel, Trevor, Finley and Freya. He is also survived by his siblings Lorraine Szuberski, Darrell (Nancy) Reutzel and Darlene (Joe) Singer, sister-in-law Renee Reutzel, and many nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Reutzel, three brothers, Ervin, Richard and Robert, brother-in-law Raymond Szuberski, sister-in-law Beverly Reutzel, sister-in-law Dorothy Reutzel, The family of Harvey wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Northwood EMT Services, St Croix Hospice, Care givers Madison Heller, Josie Portis, Linda Christianson, Julie Ganske, Worth County Public Health and Meadow View staff. We could not have asked for better care and love for Harvey. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly, IA. from 10am to 12PM. Mass of a Christian burial will following. Interment will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood, IA. Reception will follow at The Timbers in Northwood. In lieu of flowers please direct your memorials to Marjorie Reutzel, 704 Ninth Street N, Northwood, Iowa 50459, to be given to the organization of her choosing.
