Elaine Huebner, of Grafton, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Good Samaritan Home in St. Ansgar. Elaine was the daughter of Harold Bublitz and Lucille Wahl. She was born in St. Paul, Mn on July 31, 1932. She later moved to the North Iowa area. She attended country schools and graduated from Grafton Schools in 1950 with 2 in her graduating class. She enjoyed choir and playing basketball in school. Elaine married Kermit Huebner on August 6, 1950 at Emmanuel Lutheran in Grafton. She was the mother of 4 daughters: Jeannine, Deborah, Cheryl and Patricia. Elaine worked at a variety of jobs over the years from working at the Sugar Beet, to building bins with her girlfriends, to factory work, to Daycare and spent many years caring for her grandchildren. The job that was dearest to her heart was working as a caregiver for Hospice of North Iowa. She valued her experience there and the many relationships she made while she was there. Some of her fondest memories were trips she took with her husband Kermie. They made many trips to Duluth and completed the Lake Superior Circle tour. They had a large collection of agates they found in their travels. They made several trips to Florida for the winter where they visited Kermie’s sister and her family and regularly attended the Spencer Fair. Elaine loved to sing while her husband played the piano or organ and they recorded a number of songs together. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Reading was her favorite past time along with listening to music. She enjoyed her flowers and loved and cared for many cats over the years. She was so appreciative of all the support she received from her neighbors and the community of Grafton. Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie; her husband Kermie; her parents, her brothers, Darrell, Dean, and Dale; a nephew, Leo; and three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bublitz, Dorothy Bublitz, and Darlene (Huebner) Greenway. She is survived by her brother and sisters-in-law: David and Debby Bublitz, Laurie Bublitz and Marilyn Bublitz; her daughters and sons-in-law: Jeannie (Bob) Peterson, St. Ansgar; Cheryl Huebner, St. Ansgar; Pat (Mike) Clark, St. Ansgar and Gary Orth, Princeton, MN. Grandchildren: Matthew Kleckner, Cambridge, MN; Luke (Mimi) Kleckner, Las Vegas, NV; Chrissy (Mike) Hultman, Dubuque, IA; John Kleckner, Zimmerman, MN. Ara (Corey) Lotzer, Monticello, MN; Arik (Shelly) Peterson, Ft. Collins, CO; Joe (Kara) Walk, Grafton, IA; Sam Walk, Grafton, IA; Josh (Amy) Walk, St. Ansgar, IA; Taya Walk, WI. Michael (Liz) Schaub, Grafton and Harmony Clark (Grant Boehmer), Forest City, IA.16 Great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, at the Emmanuel Lutheran in Grafton. Champions Funeral Home in Osage will handle the arrangements. Visitation is Monday, November 6, at Emmanuel Lutheran from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Private family inurnment services will be held at the Grafton Cemetery at a later date. I have such fond memories of Elaine and spending so much time at her house. We were neighbors and I was often there playing with her daughters. My thoughts and prayers are with the families at this time of loss.
