Carol Ida Decklever, 80, of Osage, Iowa passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 9th, 2023 after a bravely fought battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Burial will take place at the Osage Cemetery. Carol Ida (Hoisington) Decklever was born January 20th, 1943 in Osage to Vernon and Doris Hoisington. She was baptized and confirmed at First Baptist Church in Osage. After marrying, Carol became a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage. Carol attended country school across the road from her parents, followed by her attending school in Orchard, then graduating from Osage High School in 1961. On February 25th, 1961 Carol married Dale Decklever and their life together began in a rural home by Orchard, Iowa where Carol was a devoted wife and mother. After her children were in school Carol worked as a cook at Osage Community Schools until she started work at Fox River Mills, where she remained until retirement. Carol was once an active member of the Cedar River Saddle Club and a 4-H Leader. Carol enjoyed walking, bicycling, cross country skiing, automotive racing, and school athletics. Among her family, Carol will be remembered for her French Toast and Scotcharoo bars. Carol was very proud of her family and a big supporter of her children and grandchildren. During their formative years, she attended countless athletic and musical events. Carol’s living family members are her daughter Tammy (Mike) Heffron of Osage, son Tracy Decklever of Osage, grandchildren Trey (Amber) Jacobs and Cory (Robyn) Jacobs of Osage. great-grandchildren Isabelle Jacobs, Addison Jacobs, Corbin Jacobs, Lilly Jacobs, Madden Jacobs, Cooper Jacobs, Harrison Jacobs, and Mila Jacobs of Osage. Step-grandchildren Cara Heffron and Matt (Katlyn) Heffron, 7 step-great-grandchildren of Charles City. Carol has 1 surviving brother, Lee Hoisington of Orchard. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Dale Decklever, parents Vernon and Doris Hoisington, and a brother Howard (Myrna-still surviving) Hoisington.
