Andrew Scott Hulburt, 47, lost his life suddenly and unexpectedly on November 15, 2023 in Chicago, as a victim of homicide by an unknown assailant. He was born on January 3, 1976 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to parents Phillip and Anita (Boll) Hulburt. The family settled in Osage, Iowa, when Drew ("Andy" in Osage) was in second grade. After high school graduation, he attended college at the University of Northern Iowa and later at the University of Iowa, which led him to various IT jobs, most recently as a Systems Engineer, Backup and Disaster Recovery at HUB International in the greater Chicago area. Wherever Drew's life took him, be it Seattle, Washington DC, Chicago, or his hometown, he forged long lasting friendships. Drew is survived by his mother, Anita Hulburt, special friend Sara Larsen, aunt Janis Lindsey, aunt and uncle Judy and Glen Curless, uncle John Boll and cousins Matthew Curless, Stefanie Moccero, Ryan Lindsey, Adam Lindsey, Ben Lindsey, Barb Schultz, Jim Boll, Karen Engel, Kristen Reid, Kent Ulrich, numerous other relatives, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip, in 2019, grandparents, Harold and Pauline Hulburt and Lawrence and Naomi Boll, and aunt Judith Ulrich and uncle Keith Boll. A memorial service will be held at the Saint Ansgar United Methodist Church, 510 West Fourth Street, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, at 11am on Saturday December 2, with lunch to follow the service.
