Curtis D Terhark of St. Ansgar, Iowa passed away on December 17, 2023 at Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the St. Ansgar United Methodist Church, refreshments to follow. Visitation will be held in the church an hour before the funeral. Burial will be at St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Curtis was born in Corwith, Iowa on January 25, 1933 to Fred and Anna (Delger) Terhark. He married Arlene Lester on June 27, 1958 at the Christian Reform Church in Kanawha, Iowa. They were blessed with 3 daughters Kristine, Kelley and Tracy, and four grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa Hames, Sophie and Nicholas Medin. Curtis started his formal education near Corwith in a one room country school and graduated from Hamilton Business School in August 1963 with a degree in Executive Accounting. Curtis was inducted into the Army on November 18, 1953. While serving he was stationed in Germany and Honorably Discharged on September 30, 1955. Upon graduation he started his career in PCA as a loan officer in Norfolk, Nebraska. He then moved on to the PCA Branch Office Manager in Tipton, Iowa and then Manager of PCA in Broken Bow, Nebraska. He loved helping farmers get loans to start their lives in farming. After PCA he became a loan officer at Tipton State Bank for a number of years. He finally found his calling and bought a farm near St. Ansgar. Where he spent the rest of his life doing what he loved, farming. When Curtis retired he continued to live on the farm with his wife until moving to the Lutheran Retirement Home. Preceding him in death are his; parents, Fred and Anna Terhark; son-in-law, Brad Hames; brothers, Harm (Jean) Terhark and Carroll; sisters, Betty Terhark and Marge Kavaya. Curtis is survived by his; wife, Arlene; daughters, Kristine, Kelley and Tracy; grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa Hames, Sophie and Nicholas Medin; brother, Kenneth (Karen) Terhark; sisters, Ilene (Chuck) Brown, Linda (Ron) Paulson; sister-in-law, Maggie Terhark; numerous nieces and nephews.
