JoAnn Julson of Northwood, Iowa passed away on December 21, 2023 at Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood with Rev. Becky Sogge officiating. Visitation will be held in the church an hour before the funeral. Burial will be at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. JoAnn was born in rural Northwood, Iowa on February 5, 1932 to Lawrence and Mabel (Stumo) Johnson. She graduated from Northwood High School in 1949. She married Darroll Julson on February 6, 1950 in Mason City. To this union three kids were born, Linda, Mark and Sally. She was a professional photographer, taking many peoples wedding, graduation, baby and confirmation pictures. JoAnn’s hobbies and enjoyments were cooking and baking, getting together with her church circle, polka dances most recently dancing with Jim Grosland, attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events. Preceding JoAnn in death are her; parents; husband, Darroll; brother, Richard Johnson; special friend, Jim Grosland; brother-in-law, Joel Empie; sister-in-law, Jean Johnson. JoAnn is survived by her; children, Linda Julson of Arizona, Mark (Wanda) Julson of Northwood, Sally (Pep) Hickman of Arizona; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) McCaffrey and their children, Jacob, Joey, Matt, and Mo of Colorado, Jessica (Rich) McAnally and their children Lauren, Connor and Megan of Colorado, Jay Hickman of South Dakota, Julie (Joe) Crum and their child JJ of Texas, Megan Gentz and her children Lexie and Casey of Northwood, Matthew Julson of Northwood; brother, Larry “Jr.” (Margie) Johnson of Texas; sister, Sandy Empie of Arizona; sister-in-law, Norma Johnson of Texas.
