Darlene E. Lorence, 97, of Osage, died on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Osage, with Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Inurnment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell, Iowa. Darlene was born July 29, 1926, in Cedar Township, rural Osage, the daughter of Gustave and Alvina (Hartwig) Troge. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cedar Township. She graduated from Osage High School. Darlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Darlene was united in marriage to Carl Lorence at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cedar Township, on August 30, 1953. They made their home in the Osage area. Darlene and Carl spent 25 winters together in Brownsville, Texas. After Carl's death in 2008, Darlene continued to spend her winters in Brownsville until she moved from the farm in rural Osage into town. Darlene is survived by her two daughters, Diane Thompson of Osage, and Debra Lorence of Gene Autry, Oklahoma; by a granddaughter, Heather Thompson of Osage; by a grandson, Ian (Lisa) Lorence Sr. of Boca Raton, Florida; by a great-grandson, Ian Lorence Jr. of Boca Raton, Florida; and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; son Craig Lorence; son-in-law Ron Thompson; her four sisters Wilma Johnson, Hildegarde Staff, Hulda Troge, and Verena Waters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
