Lois A. Rauen, age 76, of St. Ansgar, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Good Samaritan Center of St. Ansgar, Iowa. Lois was born on December 30, 1947, in International Falls, MN., the daughter of the late L.D. and Alma (Solo) Danielson. She graduated from Indus High School in 1965 and obtained her L.P.N. from Duluth School of Practical Nursing. Lois worked as a nurse for almost 25 years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN., and at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, MN. Lois lived in various communities through the years with her last 13 years in Waukee, IA., until she returned to St. Ansgar for her final days. Lois was a devoted mother and grandmother, always looking forward to time spent with her family. In her younger years., she enjoyed a variety of things such as gardening, bowling, and cross stitch. Lois had a special love for animals, including her own pets she cared for through the years, and when she was no longer able to care for her own, she especially loved it when friends and family would visit with their fur babies. Lois loved reading romance novels and following politics. She was also fond of online shopping, always trying to find the best bargain. She also enjoyed watching some of her favorite TV shows, The Voice, The Good Wife, and Chicago PD all while enjoying God’s greatest gift, a Diet Coke. Lois is survived by her two daughters, Deborah (Erik) Erikson of Winterset, IA and Cindy (Kevin) Rogers of Osage, IA; four grandchildren, Lauren Erikson of Winterset, IA, Leah Erikson of Waukee, IA, Kala Rogers of Estherville, IA and Lucas Rogers of Osage, IA; and four siblings, Curtis (Cindy) Danielson of Mora, MN, Roger Danielson of International Falls, MN, Lavina (George) Westerlund of Columbia Heights, MN and Aryls Danielson of Brooklyn Center, MN. Lois is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Janice Danielson. The family of Lois would like to especially thank the wonderful care she received over the years (Iowa Home Care, St. Croix Hospice and Good Samaritan Society), but especially from Andi Howe who had a special bond with her that went above and beyond and showed her the utmost care, concern, and dedication. A Celebration of Life in Lois’s honor will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from noon to 4 p.m. with a casual eulogy at 1:30 p.m. at the Osage American Legion located at 504 Main St, Osage, IA 50461. Family and friends are welcome to attend, and lunch will be provided. Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
