Lawrence “Larry” Dean Olsen, age 42, of North Liberty, Iowa, formerly of Osage, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, due to a motorcycle accident. Lawrence was born on July 28, 1981, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Lance Olsen and Karen (Michels) Kasel. He attended Osage High School, graduating in 2000. Lawrence went on to enlist in the United States Marines Corps and served in Operation Enduring Freedom. Following his time in the service, he went onto study at Kirkwood Community College, and was employed through the Department of Veterans Affairs in Iowa City working his way up to his present position as a Senior IT Specialist for the Office of Information Technology. Lawrence loved spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed spending his time gaming, building LEGO sets, and anything to do with technology. Larry was always such a positive person, spreading joy and kindness wherever he went. His upbeat attitude will leave a lasting impact on all of us who were fortunate enough to know him. Lawrence is survived by his mother, Karen (Robert) Kasel of Osage; father, Lance Olsen of Osage; sister, Klair (Chad) Meyerhofer and their children, Kylee and Carter of Fairfax; sister, Katie Easton and her children, Aubrey and Lathen of Osage. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Laverne and Daisy Olsen, and Dean and Darlene Michels. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Iowa with Pastor Andy Sayer officiating and military rites by the Osage American Legion Post 278. A celebration of life will follow from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the Osage American Legion Post 278 in Osage, Iowa. Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.schroederfuneralhomes.com.

So Sorry for your loss. Sending prayers to the family. Larry came up to the hem/onc clerk's office 2-3weeks ago to help us with our computers. Very nice, helpful, and kind gentleman. Truly sorry for your loss.
