Dixie Lee Deets, age 81, of Mason City died Friday, January 8, 2021 at MercyOne North Iowa. She spent her last hours surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. Due to Covid-19, private family services will be held Friday, January 15 at 1:00 pm at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, IA, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Dixie was born in Wells, Minnesota on June 11, 1939 the daughter of Clarence and Thora Garver. She attended school in Rockwell, Iowa. Dixie was united in marriage to Merlin (Buzz) Deets on August 31, 1957. To this union five children were born, Dawn Renae, Donna Kay, Dianna Lynn, Dollie Marie, and Darla Jean. The family lived in North Iowa the entirety of their life. Dixie and Buzz were self-employed and Dixie worked in area nursing homes for the majority of her working life, most recently at the I.O.O.F. Home. Dixie's talents were many. She was a wonderful cook, being known for her banana cream pies. She created beautiful doilies, and other crocheted and knitted gifts for family. She loved being outdoors. She enjoyed finding bargains in stores and taught her daughters the fun of garage sales and auctions. Dixie's greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids with a smile lighting up her face every time she was with them. Those left to treasure her memory are her husband of 63 years, Merlin (Buzz) Deets. Her daughters; Dawn (Bill) Staley of Iowa Falls, Donna (Rick) Alden of Garner, Dianna (Marty) Lee of Arizona, Dollie (Patrick) Dillon of Hampton and Darla (Kris) Olson of Osage. Grandchildren; Casey (Becky Dohlman) Staley, Lance (Liz Loots) Staley, Daniel (Sarah) Alden, Corey (Madison) Alden, Nicholas (Terri) Lowman, Joshua (Haley) Lowman, Andrew Lowman, Zachary Lee, Gabe Lee, Stephanie (Bridget) DiVohl, Benjamin Dillon, Katie Dillon, Kully (Cally) Olson, Trevor Olson and Matthew Olson along with 16 Great-Grandchildren. Also surviving Dixie is one sister, Karen (Harold) Schnoor of Wells, MN. Sister-in-laws: Lee (Don) Beattie, and Mary Ann Cullen, Brothers in law: Marlin (Sue) Deets, Maurice (Denise) Deets, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, one sister and three brothers. Condolences may be sent to: Darla Olson 15 Maple Lane Osage, Iowa 50461
